65th Anniversary of UNESCO© UNESCO

Taking stock and looking ahead to future challenges

The end of the year is a time to take stock of past accomplishments and prepare for future challenges. In 2010, UNESCO celebrated the numerous achievements made over its 65 years of existence. The Culture Sector's greatest single success in 2010 was the adoption of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution of 20 December on culture and development. In 2011, the Culture Sector will respond to the Director-General's call for a new humanism by advancing the cultural and development agenda and strengthening strategic partnerships with a view to further mainstreaming culture.

Best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year!
